For the respective country, the student will:
– Describe its international climate change commitment (so-called Nationally Determined
Contribution or NDC) under the Paris Agreement (the version available in English);
– Assess, discuss and explain the NDCs coverage, level of ambition and fairness, and alignment with
the overall objective of the Paris Agreement.
– Use an existing coding scheme to assess the NDCs alignment with the countrys domestic climate
change policies.
Overall, the case study will thus situate the countrys NDC between the two objectives of satisfying
domestic (climate-, energy-, or other related) interests and the international global goal of addressing
climate change.
The written assignment will be based on literature provided during the course, data sources and coding
schemes suggested during the course, additional literature and information sources that the student will
collect, and own critical thinking. Complete and correct referencing will be assessed. As in any written
