A critical review of the Challenges of Learning Chinese. ( feel free to change)

For this students should write a critical review of 2,000 words of an academic article/chapter from an edited book.

For this assessment students will be required to select an article or edited chapter that relates to their research theme (selected for this module) if unsure, consult with the subject tutor. For this critical review, you should provide a coherent summation of the key points or arguments made in the article, highlighting the use of any relevant methodologies or theories, followed by a critical response to its overarching premise/conclusion. Discussions which bring in other pertinent scholarship, feeding into any of the points discussed, may garner further marks. Remember that while you may agree with the overall position, you may disagree with some of the specific arguments made; if this is the case, you should make this clear in your response, and also explain why you disagree. You should always be careful to base your arguments on the ancient sources and evidence, where applicable, as well as consult and engage with other modern scholarly views and arguments on the subject.

The elements that you will wish to think about include:

The main purpose / theme of the piece of scholarship

The key arguments being made

Any methodological approach or theories that are utilised

How does the scholarship draw upon / utilise / evaluate the evidence do you think their approaches are satisfactory or can any criticism be made?

How does the position or view advocated by the scholar(s) fit into wider (pertinent) academic debate on this subject / how do they engagement with other scholarship

What is your own position vis–vis the arguments made in the article / chapter

I need a few other sources to back this up too.
