African Americans in late 19th/Early 20th centuries

Write an essay prompted by the following statement. Be sure to write at least 1000 words/four pages (12-point font, double spaced, one-inch margins), clearly state your argument in an introduction, and provide specific examples of historical events, issues, and/or people to back up your assertions in the body of the essay. Last, in addition to editing your paper so that it is a polished essay, be sure to use and cite at least two additional sources from 1. readings from the text Voices of Freedom; and/or 2. From the videos we have watched so far (Birth of a Nation; Modern Times).

During the late 19th and early 20th centuries, peoples lives barely changed in rural and/or urban America. All of the following groups (address at least one group) continued to live as they had for many decades: African Americans, farmers, women, city dwellers, skilled laborers, and unskilled workers.
