On the American Speech Language and Hearing (ASHA) website there is a compilation of information on speech and language disorders as well as hearing and balance disorders. You can find the website at www.asha.org (Links to an external site.) From the homepage, click on either “Speech Language Pathologists” or “Audiologists.” Then, in a magenta box on the right side, there is a link titled “the public.” Click on this and you will see a page titled “Communication for a Lifetime.” (NOTE—You may have to update your browser or make sure you are using Chrome because some browsers are not supported by this website). Here you will see sections on Hearing and Balance as well as Speech Language and Swallowing. Please browse through this information, paying particular attention to the disorders sections under both topics. Once you have done this, submit 3 to 4 paragraphs stating which disorders (must include three or four different disorders to earn full credit) you found interesting and why. Do not copy and paste what you found on the web site. Summarize and add your own insight!
