Complete a spelling assessment on the child you are tutoring (attachment explaining student). Use the Ganske Informal Spelling Inventory (Page 285, Gillet et al. Attachment of pages). After administering the spelling assessment determine the spelling stage of the child and support your answer using information from the textbook. Then, provide recommendations for spelling instruction for this child. Your textbook has many examples of spelling activities for each stage. You can use this information when creating your tutoring lesson plans.
Instructions
Give the Ganske Informal Spelling Inventory found on page 329, Figure 8.9 of your textbook to the child you are tutoring.
Score the assessment.
Write an analysis of the childs scores on the spelling test.
Choose the Developmental Spelling Stage you believe your student is in and state why you chose that stage. Support this answer with citations from the text.
Scan your scored inventory or take a high-quality digital image to submit.
Recommend 35 activities you would do with the child based on this assessment. Several examples can be found in your Gillet, et al., textbook under the section that describes the spelling stage of the child.
Submit all testing materials and results.
