Some of our earliest examples of literature are drama, which has formed the basis on which literature was developed. It is important to understand and appreciate drama, and the unique features that characterize it. After reading Trifles this week, respond to these questions:
At what point in the play were you most distanced as a reader? At what point were you most engaged as a reader?
What universal human traits do you see reflected in the characters in the play? How did Glaspell draw you in as a reader through characterization and character development?
What larger truths or themes do you take away from this drama? What applications to modern life do you see in reading Trifles?
