Informal Reading Journals: Informal Reading Journals (journals 2-4 and 6-9) are due on assigned due dates. I will not be able to accept late journal entries; if you miss one, just pick up with the next one and keep going. Submissions are due by 10:00pm EST on the assigned due date (in Word format). If the page requirements are not met (if you do not submit the complete assignment) a zero will be given for the assignment. Additionally, students will lose five points if a works cited page is not submitted. Journals may be read and discussed during webinars.
Students will use this opportunity to begin researching and writing their research paper. Informal Reading Journals will provide the opportunity for you to make early connections and gradually complete your research paper.

In this undergraduate course, students will examine the life and work of innovators who influenced culture, technology and society. In this online collaborative learning course, students will analyze biographies, autobiographies, memoirs and case studies, and explore how environment, experiences and society shaped the lives of innovators (such as Phil Knight, Steve Jobs, Nikola Tesla, Indra Nooyi, and Oprah Winfrey). Additionally, students will explore ethical theory in relation to society, innovation and innovators. Through readings, discussions, writing assignments, presentations, and written analysis of literary assignments, students will respond critically and explore the relationship between innovators and the environment they navigate, and the human condition and the will to find meaning.
