Topic Selection, Authorization, and Due Dates
Each student will have a separate topic. Students seeking topic authorization will submit a proposed topic and a brief one page outline with a list of probable references for instructor approval by the due date on the schedule. The topic should be approved before
beginning research. The completed paper must be submitted on time in order to avoid a late penalty. See the schedule for the exact dates.
Sources for the Paper-
The research data will synthesize information from current news articles, peer reviewed articles obtained from the internet and library sources, the course text, and other readings. References should be current to within five years. Sources older than five years should be used sparingly and only if they have historical and/or developmental significance. References will be listed on the reference page of the paper only if those references have been used as citations within the body of the paper.
Pages and Word Count-
This final paper will be between 1100 and 1400 words. In addition to the total words in the text the paper will also have a cover sheet and a reference page. The words on the cover sheet and the reference page will not be included in the word count of the paper.
Term Paper Format
Citations as well as the entire paper will follow American Psychological Association (APA), 6th edition format. The font will be 12, the type will be Times New Roman, and the margins will be no larger than one inch. Points will be taken off for papers that are submitted late. Papers that are submitted up to one week late will receive a 1/2 letter grade penalty. Papers that are submitted between one and two weeks late will receive a full grade penalty.
