Carrie is a 33 year old single mother of 2 children, ages 4 months and 6 years old. She was in a motor vehicle accident where she was the restrained driver. Upon arrival to the Emergency Room (ER), Carrie had hematocrit (Hct) of 27.9 and hemoglobin (Hgb) of 6.8. She was complaining of pain in her sides, stomach, left wrist and right thigh. Within an hour of being in the ER, Carrie’s Hgb dropped to 5.4 and Hct to 25.6. Carrie began to have irregular heartbeats. After 3 days of being hospitalized, Carrie was found to have an elevated white blood count.

1) How could Carrie’s skeletal, muscular, cardiac, and blood systems have been affected by the accident?
