DB POST:

With so many electronic devices at our disposal today, it could be a difficult decision when it comes to choosing one that suits your needs. (Dell website).
Our options range from desktops to laptops, chrome books, and tablets. Depending on the brand, some companies make the claim that their products are better based on the capabilities they have. The Chromebook by Dell seems to be the most popular device these days, as many school districts use them, and it was the device of choice for my school district usage for virtual instruction when COVID-19 hit. I would assume that the districts contract has allowed them the procure the devices at a deeply discounted rate. In other usages, the Chromebook is limited because it does not allow you to open multiple browsers at one time. This could be beneficial as it decreases the number of distractions for the user.

The Apple Ipad is also a very popular device among adults and children. They have several different versions available, each one caters to the needs of the user. These are more useful for gaming, as they do typically do not come with a mouse or keypad, which makes it very difficult to type a research paper. The accessories can however be purchased separately. Laptops offer the same conveniences as smaller, portable devices. I am biased as I prefer to use my laptop over the Chrome Book. I have the touchscreen option, as well as read-aloud, and speech-to-text options. Laptops and tablets can also be easily transported from classroom to classroom to complete work.

These portable devices could possibly increase the speed at which research is conducted due to the ease of mobility. They allow the users to perform tasks practically anywhere, anytime if they have access to the internet. The accuracy of the information I do believe would lie in the hands of the researchers. In planning a research project, I would choose 3 focus/sample groups to study and collect data. One group would use laptops, one group would use Chromebooks, and the third group would use tablets. Each group would contain participants who are in school grades K-12 so that the study is as balanced as possible. I believe that my approach differs from those of my classmates because my plan is based on a study of school-aged children and not adults. Adult learners need to be studied as well because we want to be informed about the best options available for us as well. The focus is on children here because we need to establish the best options for the delivery of educational material.

Critical Literature Survey: Modern Slavery – People as Property

This paper is for law module in the UK (land law)
topic: modern slavery

(i) Modern Slavery (People as Property)

Modern slavery-related crimes encompass some of the worst abuses of humanity, by humanity. [Legislators] have a critical role in combatting these abuses; nationally, by ensuring effective legislation is in place, and internationally, by the setting and sharing of best practice laws and initiatives to ensure a globally coordinated approach to eradicate these crimes. (Commonwealth Parliamentary Association)

With reference to the law in England and Wales, critically examine the adequacy of the legislative framework in combatting modern slavery.

A literature survey is normally a focus on relevant literature in the area of research. Within the definition of literature, we can include both classic literature (articles, books, chapters and like documents) as well as other relevant literature (reports by national and international bodies, briefings, position papers, analyses and other research by NGOs, statements by national and international bodies and individual actors etc).

The purpose here is to use your analysis of the literature to help support you to make an argument that responds to the question being asked in your topic area. As such, your analysis of the literature has to be balanced, i.e., it must consider both those things that support your argument as well as the things that challenge or deny the validity of your argument.

You must also be able to assess the quality of the literature you identify in your research, going beyond the materials already supplied. Quality is essential and you must come to a judgment on the materials you find that is both critical and carefully weighed. In other words, the better the materials, the more believable and cogent your arguments will be.

Please mention:
– poor accommodation conditions (victims of modern slavery)
-language barrier
-debt bondage (victims cannot leave due to the debt)
