The HealthIT Topic of Week assignment must be submitted by Sunday 11:59 p.m. (MT) at the end of Week 5. The guidelines and grading rubric are located and listed below.

Week 5: HealthIT Topic of Week Assignment (Links to an external site.)

Purpose
This assignment is designed to help students

Develop an appreciation for informatics, basic skills and knowledge required in practice settings. Students will select a hot or popular topic of particular interest to their practice to discuss. The topic will be selected from the website using the link provided in the course Assignments section.
Course Outcomes
CO 6: Describe health information systems within healthcare setting and the profession of nursing in all practice domains and settings including electronic health records (EHR), their management and patient-care information technology (IT). (PO 3)

CO 7: Explore trends and issues in NI and their impact on nursing practice in all domains, including cultural humility and person-centered care. (PO 1, 3)

Due Date: Sunday 11:59 p.m. MT at the end of Week 5.
Students are given the opportunity to request an extension on assignments for emergent situations. Supporting documentation must be submitted to the assigned faculty. If the students request is not approved, the assignment is graded and a late penalty is applied as follows:

Monday = 10% of total possible point reduction
Tuesday = 20% of total possible point reduction
Wednesday = 30% of total possible point reduction
If the students request is approved, the student will be informed of the revised due date. Should the student fail to meet the revised due date, the assignment is graded and a late penalty is applied as follows:

Monday = 10% of total possible point reduction
Tuesday = 20% of total possible point reduction
Wednesday = 30% of total possible point reduction
Total Points Possible: 175

Requirements
Students will login to FierceEMR and FierceHealthIT using the link provided in the reading assignment module for Week 5 and select a current/popular topic of the week that may impact their practice. Students, in a professionally developed paper, will discuss the rationale for choosing the topic, how it will impact practice in a positive or negative manner, citing pros and cons. Include a discussion of how informatics skills and knowledge were used in the process relevance to developing the assignment. In the conclusion, provide recommendations for the future. Submit completed FierceHealthIT Topic paper for Wk. 5 to dropbox by end of Week 5.

Preparing the paper
The FierceEMR and FierceHealthIT Current/Popular Topic of the Week assignment must be a professional, scholarly prepared paper. See the guidelines for writing a professional, scholarly paper. The professional paper will have an introduction, body of paper to explain what you are doing, summary/conclusion, and at least three scholarly references.
Required texts may be used as references, but a minimum of three sources must be from outside of course readings.
All aspects of the paper must be in APA format as expressed in the current edition.
The paper (excluding the title page, introduction and reference page) is 4-6 pages in length.

What questions does Ida Jean Orlandos theory guide the nurse to consider in caring for Susan and Sam?

Ann, a community nurse, made an afternoon home visit with Susan and her father. After the death of her mother, Susan had growing concerns about her father living alone. "I worry about my father all the time. He is becoming more forgetful and he has trouble seeing. Mom used to take care of him. I am not sleeping and I am irritable around him. Yesterday I shouted at him because he wouldn't let me help him with his laundry. I felt terrible! I am at my wits' end! My brothers and sisters do not want to put dad in a nursing home but they are not willing to help out. As usual, they have left me with all the responsibility. I work part time and have two small children to care for. Susan's father, Sam, sat quietly with tears filling his eyes. He was well nourished and well-groomed but would not make eye contact. Nurse Ann noticed that the house was clean and orderly. A tray in front of the TV had the remains of a ham sandwich and glass of ice tea. Mail was piled up, unopened on a small table near the front door. There was only one car in the driveway and the yard was in need of attention.

Discuss about the Self-made distal femoral extramedullary positioning osteotomy template in total knee arthroplasty.

Discuss about the Self-made distal femoral extramedullary positioning osteotomy template in total knee arthroplasty. To investigate the accuracy and feasibility of using a homemade distal femoral extramedullary positioning osteotomy template to position the distal femur for total knee replacement during initial total knee arthroplasty.
Methods From September 2019 to February 2021, 35 consecutive cases of advanced osteoarthritis or rheumatoid arthritis (extramedullary positioning group), 10 males and 25 females, aged 56 80years, average (69.095.70years), underwent total knee replacement with distal femoral osteotomy using a homemade extramedullary positioning template. 35 consecutive cases of advanced osteoarthritis or rheumatoid arthritis with total knee replacement by distal femoral osteotomy with conventional intramedullary localization (intramedullary localization group), 9males and 26 females; age 55 79 years, mean (67.175.38) years.
The extramedullary positioning osteotomy template was referenced to the tibial osteotomy surface. The lower limb force line was determined by the center of the femoral head, the center of the knee joint and the center of the ankle joint to complete the distal femoral osteotomy. We compared the intraoperative bleeding, postoperative drainage, knee mobility at 1 and 2 weeks postoperatively, the deviation of hip-knee ankle (HKA) angle from the ideal value on x-ray within one week postoperatively, and the difference of femoral prosthesis coronal plane angle and femoral prosthesis flexion angle between the two groups.
Results: There were no statistically significant differences in age, sex, body mass index, deviation of preoperative HKA from the ideal value, Hospital for Special Surgery (HSS) knee score, and knee mobility between the two groups.
The operative time was (96.578.576)min and (89.9710.051) minutes in the extramedullary and intramedullary localization groups. The intraoperative bleeding was (104.8 8.864) ml and (95.49.372)ml, respectively, and the postoperative drainage was (179.43_+48.443)ml and (229.2955.095)ml, respectively, and the differences were statistically significant (P<0.05). The mean postoperative HKA deviation in the extramedullary positioning group (2.143. 0.958) was smaller than that in the intramedullary positioning group (2.046. 1.094), the coronal plane angle of the femoral prosthesis (90.334. 2.856) was greater than that in the intramedullary positioning group (89.443 1.839), and the flexion angle of the femoral prosthesis (90.954. 1.770.) was greater than that in the intramedullary positioning group (90.274. 1.721.). The differences were statistically significant (P<0.05). The knee mobility was 101.94 8.321. and 101.23 9.124. at one week and 108.91 6.28. and 108.34 6.68. 2 weeks postoperatively in the extramedullary and intramedullary positioning groups, respectively, with no statistically significant difference (P>0.05).
Conclusion: The use of homemade osteotomy templates for distal femoral extramedullary positioning can shorten the time of total knee replacement surgery, reduce trauma and bleeding, and have higher accuracy in coronal and sagittal positioning of the femoral prosthesis than intramedullary positioning, with the same effect on the improvement of knee function and knee mobility in the early postoperative period.
