Identify and describe the software design flaw, glitch, or error.

Louis V. Gerstner, Jr., former CEO and Chairman of the Board of IBM, stated, “Computers are magnificent tools for the realization of our dreams, but no machine can replace the human spark of spirit, compassion, love, and understanding” (Reynolds, 2019, p. 263).

A solid ethical framework is crucial for companies involved in the design and development of software and IT systems. At the very least, companies involved in these endeavors want to avoid poor sales and bad press from bugs or poor design. However, much more is at stake. Companies face potentially massive criminal and legal liability exposures if they make subpar or unethically designed products and services available to the public. Software bugs or poor design within computer systems can produce financially damaging occurrences and could lead to property destruction or even fatalities.

To complete this assignment, use the Internet or the Strayer library to locate an example of poor IT design or software errors that led to personal or corporate financial or property loss or to a fatal accident.

Write a 35 page paper that addresses the following items:

Identify and describe the software design flaw, glitch, or error. Summarize the resulting impact of the failure.
Determine if the failure was a result of poor quality or an ethical requirement deficiency. Provide recommendations that you feel would have prevented the failure.
Explain who, in your opinion, should be held accountable for the incident and why.
Identify the corrective actions that were put in place by the organization after the incident.

What do the overall results (of the various models) tell us about how school gardens affect student academic achievement?

PDF attached!!!

After reading the article carefully and taking notes, answer the following three questions in your initial response (all in one post; do not do separate posts for each question so that the discussion stays organized!):

What do the overall results (of the various models) tell us about how school gardens affect student academic achievement? (Summarize and synthesize the findings clearly IN YOUR OWN WORDS!)
Looking specifically at the regression analyses that involve step-wise regression (same DV but different combinations of IVs for different models, e.g., Model 1, Model 2, etc.), what do you learn from these analyses about the importance of using step-wise regression for examining the effects of different IVs/sets of IVs? In other words, what do these analyses reveal about why we don’t just include all of the variables into a single model from the start?
Thinking sociologically, what other variables might it have been good to include as controls in the regression analyses?
When including control variables, it is important to avoid redundancy since that leads to collinearity (multiple variables measuring or “tapping into” the same underlying concept). For example, we would NOT suggest average income of parents of children at the school since the authors already included a measure for participation in free/reduced price lunch. That variable serves as a “proxy” for the SES of families at the school. Including a measure of average parental income would actually be counterproductive since having both means that each essentially would “wash out” the effect of the other. Keep this in mind as you think through and propose additional control variables you think the authors could/should have included. (NOTE: Your goal here is not to undermine or “trash” this study; your goal is to think critically about the models used and also to think about how we might elaborate these models further.)

Identify and evaluate the sufficiency, relevance, and cogency of the evidence and the reasoning offered in support of the claim(s).

In a coherent and well-written essay (4-6 pages double-spaced), outline the basic argumentative structure of “Can Victim Rights Go Too Far?” You should first break down the argument offered to its component parts (claims, reasons, evidence, warrants, etc.) and then analyze the cogency of the argument. In your essay, you should 1) identify the major claim and supporting claims advanced in the article; 2) identify and evaluate the sufficiency, relevance, and cogency of the evidence and the reasoning offered in support of the claim(s); and 3) identify the structural relationship among various claims. One of the keys to this assignment will be your structural analysis of the argument; that is, what is the main claim? What are subsidiary claims? How do they relate?
