Celebratory Speech

1) TOAST something good that happened this year – last year- or someone influential to your year. Explain why they were significant and precisely how they were influential.

OR

2) ROAST the year 2021 (using appropriate language, context, audience consideration, etc.).

There is an explanation of the difference between a Roast and a Toast. Below is a video example of a Roast and a Toast so you can hear the difference. The speech quality is not the best in the Roast, and the video quality is not the best in the Toast, but use these examples for the type of language and speaking style of a Roast vs. a Toast. You can also check out Comedy Central Celebrity Roast *note there is inappropriate language and content in the Celebrity Roasts, so use the general idea of roasting/humor in the Celebrity Roast speeches*

You DO NOT NEED a visual aid. Cite sources only IF you use them using MLA format and attach them to your outline.

Your speech should be 3-5 minutes. Suppose your speech is longer than 5 minutes. In that case, I will stop grading at the 5-minute mark, and any aspect of the speech that is remaining will not be graded (for example: If you have not reached your conclusion at the 5-minute mark, you will not receive points for the conclusion in addition to the time penalty). Keep in mind this is your final, and please do have fun with this speech. However, treat it as a final exam. Eye contact with the audience is a must!

***The teacher knows nothing about me, you can make up any personal story. This should be written with celebratory words and tones.
