Chapter 8 Companion Reading Paper

At the end of each chapter there are companion readings listed that are related to that weeks chapter. You should pick one of these readings each week it is assigned and write a one page paper on the reading. This paper should illustrate the connection you see between the reading you selected and the chapter covered. You need to talk about the reading you selected, the chapter covered, and the connection between the two. This all needs to be done on one page, so be concise in your writing and the points you want to make. Understand these papers are not to be a summary of what you ready but an explanation of the connections you see between the two pieces. These connections need to be meaningful, so things like _______ was talked about in chapter 3 and I saw it in the companion reading. That will not count and you will lose points. Use the writing guide I have included in the course to check what you have written against what I am expecting to grade. These writings will be of 10% of your overall grade. There will be no make-ups allowed and it is up to the student to manage their time effectively. The papers will be graded based on completeness, the relatedness to the topic, readings for the week, and appropriateness of the writing (please see the discussion board grading scale for reference). Please note that all work submitted should be your own original work. No plagiarized work from the author of the book, myself, or any other source may be used. The use of any plagiarized work will result in a 0 for the portion of the assignment. If it happens again, then whole assignment will earn a 0. If there is still another instance than the student(s) will earn a 0 for the class.Papers will be uploaded to Turnitin, through that weeks folder. After you have successfully submitted your assignment, you will receive a digital receipt containing a paper ID both on screen and in your UHV student email. If you do not receive this receipt, you need to ensure that you clicked the final submit button on the file preview page. If you still need assistance, contact technical support immediately by submitting the Blackboard support form on your course homepage. Receipts can be downloaded after submission by clicking the “View/Complete” on the assignment and then the arrow download button. You should save a copy of this receipt until your assignment has been graded. Failure to receive the receipt means the work has not been uploaded to Turnitin. If you do not upload (receive the receipt) before the due date/time, then the work is considered late. No late assignments will be accepted. The three (3) lowest writing submission grades will be dropped. The writings assess course learning objectives 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5.
