Chemistry in the News

Chemistry in the News
It is important to recognize that this vast world is fragile and that problems or issues arise on a daily basis, which threaten it. In order to help alleviate some of these situations, we must first learn and understand them. We will do this by sharing current articles on research or events on environmental issues that are occurring in our communities, our country, and the world, and by making connections between these and our studies as a class.

What to do:
Find an article about a chemistry topic or issue
The article must be from this year and hopefully from the last six months that you are presenting.
Become an expert on the article, researching concepts or techniques if need be
Create a 5 minute presentation in which to educate your classmates about the article/topic
Involve your classmates by asking them their thoughts and opinions about your article.
Possible Sources for Articles:
Local newspaper, hometown newspaper, The New York Times, NPR Podcasts, www.sciencedaily.com, www.sciencenews.org, CNN, science journals, nature journals, The New Yorker, BBC, etc. It must be a reliable source!
