This paper is designed for you to get your feet wet in Interpersonal Communication terms, concepts, and ideas. The first part of the assignment is to select up to three communication concepts from theInterpersonal communication chapter 7 of your textbook (i.e. self-disclosure, trust, romantic relationships, and friendships). The next part will be to analyze a certain conflict with in the film (chapter 8), was the conflict handled properly or not, what styles of conflict were seen.

If you have trouble thinking of an interpersonal communication concepts, look in your textbooks glossary, sub headings or terms that are highlighted in BOLD. Be SPECIFIC on your concept selection. You may need to do library or online research for this assignment.

I. Introduction (1/2 page)

In the first paragraph, briefly introduce the film and the paper. Describe how this film relates to the textbook chapters on intercultural and interpersonal communication. Provide a clear thesis for your paper.

II. Communication Concept Film Example (1 1 pages)

Next, provide a communication concept from the text book. Clearly define and explain what is the communication concept (accurately cite this information either from your book or outside source) in your own words! Provide and elaborate an example from the film for the communication concept. Finally, describe why it is important to be aware of this communication concept. Concept should be from the chapters that discuss different interpersonal relationships.

III. Conflict Scenario (1 1 pages)

Thirdly, describe a conflict either small or minor between an interpersonal relationship that occurred in the film. How was the conflict approached and handled? Was it an effective method of handling the concept? Relate the conflict scenario to key terms and conflicts from the books chapters on managing conflict in relationships.

IV. Analysis and Conclusion (1 page)

Lastly be sure to answer these questions in the conclusion, 1. Explain if you liked or disliked the film. 2. What are some aspects of the film that you enjoyed? 3. What aspects of the film did you find disturbing? 4. Do you think this is an effective film for analyzing various realms of intercultural/interpersonal communication (i.e. family, romantic, emotions, and conflict)? Why or Why not? 5. What film would you suggest for analyzing interpersonal communication? 6. What is the most significant thing you learned about the intercultural and interpersonal communication in this film and from writing this paper?
