This an assessment that tests your knowledge of the literature connected to the HR problem that your client has. Every client wants to be reassured that they either have a common problem (e.g. most companies of your type struggle with this area) or one that is unique but in an area where there is considerable expertise and examples to base a solution on.
You will be covering the literature related to the HR problem in more detail in the report but the proposal is there for you to reassure the client in writing about your knowledge of their company, the problem as they have outlined it in writing to you via the brief and/or other mechanism, and your proposed plan for investigating the problem.
Remember, at this point you are NOT providing the client with solutions or analysing the problem. Let me repeat that again – do NOT attempt to provide solutions or analysis at this point. You are merely showing that you understand it and have a plan to investigate it. Solutions and recommendations are only talked about in the final report.
