1) Choose any two of the authors studied in this unit and compare them in the context of COMMUNICATION. You might compare their style, the efficacy of that style, their format, their audience, their message, their passion, etc.
2)THEN: Create an outline to prepare the presentation of your comparison in the form an expository essay. You might create your own freehand outline like the planning document images below, or click here for a compare/contrast essay template you can use to organize your argument.
3)Write a five-paragraph expository essay which compares and contrasts your chosen authors.
*Those are the exact instructions from my teacher and I have attached the grading rubric. The two authors I have chosen are Marjane Satrapi and Buffy Sainte-Marie. In the class I have read Satrapi’s graphic novel “Persepolis.” I tried to attache the PDF copy but it is too large so if you need it please contact me. Please use this to direct quote reference the themes, imagery, tone etc. as it is the only material of hers we have studied. As for Buffy sainte-marie, we have not gone into too much detail but have studied her and her music, message, life etc. They both have oppressive themes that they address and raise awareness of in their writing if you could highlight that please. For Buffy Sainte-Marie I have attached any materials given by the teacher and a project I did on her but it is not too specific so please use one or two other sources to integrate. I am familiar with them overall but am struggling to compare and contrast their methods of communication. Also, if you could make the outline that would be great because it will be hard for me to pick apart and simplify from the finished essay. If no that is okay I can do it myself later.
