Instructions
Conduct a review of the literature and produce a document containing information to assist exercise physiology colleagues to treat patients within the clinical population described in the case. That is, include information relevant to the exercise testing and programming. Subtitles are highly recommended. The information you produce must include:
Anatomy and pathophysiology of the stated cancer type including the grade or categorisation described (guide 300words; diagrams are permissible if appropriately referenced)
Comorbidities and common secondary conditions commonly related to the cancer type and treatments described (guide 400words),
A summary of the surgical and medical treatments (prescribed medications, dietary, hormonal or chemotherapy treatments) directly described in the case (guide 400 words), and
The evidence for the inclusion of physical activity/exercise as a prevention (if relevant) and treatment strategy for the stated clinical population. This section should include an exercise program overview which outlines the considerations and contraindications for exercise in the patient group described, types of exercise the literature demonstrates are most helpful for the clinical population and a broad outline of the considerations for and application of the evidence base to the client described (guide 900 words).
The case study:
CASE 1: A 43yo mother of two recovering from local treatment (simple mastectomy with axillary clearance) for a left side invasive ductal carcinoma (T2N2aM0) 6 months ago. She has developed lymphoedema and is seeing a specialist nurse. She has been referred to you to help regain optimal upper limb function (she is right hand dominant) and improve confidence with physical activity. Her children are aged 3 and 6 years. She has always loved swimming. She will return to work (full time) as a high school English teacher in 4 months.
I put 15 references, however the requirement is not specified. Aim between 10-15. Use APA 6th or APA 7th.
