In less than a week, you have learned the difference between primary and secondary legal sources and have learned how to use WestLaw to do legal research. Based upon your research exercise for this week, report via a post of what you have learned about the interpretation and application of Terry v. Ohio in YOUR jurisdiction. Be sure to designate which jurisdiction you are using. Your post should be a minimum of 150 words and should include both primary and secondary sources which you must identify as such. After you have completed your initial post, you will need to review other postings to find at least one similarity among jurisdictions and one difference among jurisdictions. Be sure to cite your findings. You will need two followup responses to other postings.Hints: The purpose of this exercise is to show the importance of doing proper research. One cannot rely solely on a particular response as the answer to a question depends on many factors– with the primary factor being JURISDICTION. Also, Terry v. Ohio is a US Supreme Court interpretation of the 4th Amendment as it pertains to investigatory stops and frisks. Keep in mind that Terry v. Ohio represents the MINIMUM protections granted. Keep in mind that a STATE can give MORE protections than the minimum protections if the state chooses to do so.
