Constantly medical services improve new ways of keeping people outside of the hospital and promoting a healthy lifestyle. When the pandemic hit, we saw an increase in outpatient and telehealth services. All this raises the necessity for new specialty and expanded others existent, making more notorious the nursing shortage in the United States. The American Nurse Association describes how vital nurses are at the bedside and needed in another health care arena. During the last year, the stress and pressure push some nurses to change or abandon the clinic areas seeking better opportunities. We experience approximately 25 nursing losses due to burnout on our floor in less than five months. In the article Nursing Shortage by Haddad, L. Annamaraju, P. Toney T. (2020), health care services are increasing due to the highest number of Americans over 65 and older, which increases the responsibility of each nurse in this Nation. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, nurse’s employment is expected to be rising by 175,900 openings for RN every year through 2029. That is why hospitals are looking for new nurses and see the necessity of increase the ratio between nurses and patients. The problems of this shortage can lead to errors and higher mortality rates.
I decided to move to another hospital that offers a better quality of job. They decided to hire more nurses and schedule different entrance times to relieve nurses with the heavy team. Also, they have a resource nurse on the floor. I can tell everybody these strategies work. Now I love my work again, and I can not lie that sometimes they give you an extra patient, but it is not common. Haddad, L. Annamaraju, P. Toney, T. (2020) suggest that organizations need to be creative to resolve nurses’ demands while providing the best and safest care.
