Clinical Mentor Plan
The Clinical Mentor Plan Assignment is worth 50 points. The assignment must be submitted before you begin any of the required clinical hours (a minimum of 24 hours) and must include the following components:
Include your mentor’s name, credentials, and contact information.
List three (3) to four (4) goals for the clinical time spent with the mentor. Goals are broad statements of what you want to accomplish during your clinical experiences. Each goal must be linked in parentheses to a course outcome(s). An example of a goal is: Gain knowledge of the advanced practice role (CO 1,3,4). This goal can be linked to CO 1,3, and 4.
Describe how you plan to obtain the required hours with your mentor.
Explain how you plan to log your clinical hours, such as how will you design and utilize a clinical log for the time spent with your mentor.
Course Outcomes (CO)
1. Demonstrate an ability to incorporate the six QSEN competencies in nurse roles by articulating various roles that nurses perform and how the QSEN competencies relate to these roles.
2. Describe how economic, environment, collective bargaining, technological, legal, political, social, and global health care issues and changes impact nurses roles.
3. Differentiate between diverse nursing practice roles in terms of educational preparation, employment opportunities, desirable characteristics, certification requirements, legal regulations, scope of practice, salaries, etc.
4. Relate the observed roles of selected nurses to role theory and QSEN competencies.
5. Utilize role theory and the six QSEN competencies in own professional development.
