Class: Cultural Epideiology
Academic Style: Chicago
Reading: Saethre, E. (2013). Illness is a weapon: Indigenous identity and enduring afflictions. Nashville: Vanderbilt University Press.
Write a 6-page paper on Saethre’s book that includes the following:
INTRODUCTION: Information about the author, the central research question, the methods, theoretical orientation, and the book title (why does it have this title?) You should already have most of this information in your RJ, so use it. Check for cohesion (make sure your sentences lead to one another and are ordered in a logical order). This should be between 1/2 to one page.
BODY: Describe THREE KEY THEMES Saethre describes that are also central to our course materials. Separate each theme into its own section with its own subheading. Use two-course readings per section (6 total) to contextualize what you are saying about each theme. This should be about 4 pages total, but maybe a bit longer if your intro/conclusions are shorter.
CONCLUSIONS: Describe the contributions the book makes to cultural epidemiology. Discuss any shortfalls in addition to what makes the book useful to you. This should be 1/2 to 1 page.
MAKE SURE TO FOLLOW THE FORMATTING GUIDELINES.
PROOFREAD!! Pretend that this is the FINAL. There should be no grammatical or spelling errors, your style should be easy to read, and your citations (both in-text citations and the bib citations) should be in flawless Chicago Style.
Include a Bibliography (not included in the page count).
