The Report
In 2 pages, note as much of the following as you can find in any particular order. Use
prose writing and do not include any bulleted or numbered lists.

Describe:
i. Ontario professions professional College (if one exists) and review and
summarize their Standards of Practice / Scope of Practice (they may refer to it as a
Scope or a Standards) and Code of Ethics, if no professional College exists you will need
to say this. Focus most on what they can do not the various Code items or Principles.
ii. Educational requirements in Ontario. Explicitly say whether a diploma or
degree or certificate (or none) is actually required to work in Ontario. It is best to cite a
training program and briefly describe some courses actually studied that give an idea
of what they can do(such as by looking at a University / College curricular program).
iii. What main topics each professional studies as a student and areas they
are expected to be competent in what they should be able to do on the job.
If formal educational or professional registration requirements do not exist for the
profession you selected then explicitly say this and document generally accepted

understandings of the professions work scope in Ontario and, usual training and
credentials held by those working in this capacity.
Common Errors: Not citing in-text sources frequently enough. Students writing great
detail about educational entrance requirements to a training program, or the professions
complete Codes of Ethics or about broad general principles from a Standards of Practice
document, yet they tell the reader almost nothing about the massive breadth of what the
professional actually studies and the many treatment interventions they can actually do.
