Bachelors Degree or Higher(2015-2019)
Per Capita Income in Past 12 Months
(2019 Dollars) 2015-2019
B)(12%)Lets, for this exercise, focus solely on per capita income and cost of living differences/purchasing power.
Accounting for cost of living differences and purchasing power, which City has higher per capita money income (and by how much)? Briefly explain your answer.
To address this, you will need to use the CNNMoney cost of living calculator located at: money.cnn.com/calculator/pf/cost- of-living. One way to do this is to assume a person currently lives in Odessa. Input that this person has annual income equal to the per capita money income of Odessa (note: the CNNMoney site only allows you to input an income to the nearest $5K). About what would this person have to annually earn in Boston to have the same purchasing power (for housing, groceries etc.) as he/she does currently living in Odessa with income equal to the per capita income of Odessa? What is the actual per capita income in Boston? How does this compare to your answer to the previous question?
So, in terms of annual income per capita, who is better off and by how much (in dollars or percentage terms)?

Texas Local Options Elections Regarding Allowable Alcohol Sales
Suppose you live in a Texas city that in the distant past voted to be completely dry with respect to all alcohol sales. Suppose that the City’s voters will soon vote on a ballot proposition that would (if approved) generally legalize alcohol sales (e.g., beer, wine, distilled spirits) in a variety of licensed settings in that city as allowed by Texas state law.
Write a 275-450 word letter to the editorial section of that city’s local newspaper presenting your position on the ballot proposition, the reasons why voters should support this position, and at least some plausible, relevant statistical evidence. Address one or more concerns of those voters who might differ from you in their leaning on this issue.
(Assume that the area immediately surrounding your city is completely dry but that jurisdictions about ten miles away from the center of your city allow all forms of alcohol sales in a variety of settings.)
(For information about Texas law on local options elections on allowable alcohol sales, check out the TABC (Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission) website under areas such as local options elections, local options election ballot issues, and prohibitory elections. For a variety of asserted pros and cons surrounding a given city or county choosing to be completely “dry” vs. completely “wet” or something in-between, see some web articles about certain local alcohol options elections in Texas (e.g., City of Andrews, etc.). For relevant statistical evidence for some of your points, see web articles or see journals such as the Southwest Journal of Criminal Justice (e.g., Vol. 8(1) Scalen and Payne article) or other journals. Journal articles can vary a bit in their findings. )
