Having written and received feedback on your proposal and annotated bibliography, you should have little problem structuring your essay around a reasonably original argument or observation. Please make sure you reference at least six sources (adding four to the ones in your bibliography, unless you prefer to add different ones), though ideally your bibliography (which you must also submit with your essay) will be longer than that.
Please use either in-text citations or endnotes/footnotes and follow a proper style guide. If you use endnotes/footnotes, then you don’t need a bibliography as all your bibliographic information will be in the notes. If you choose to use in-text citations, however, you do need to submit a bibliography.
Please also include captioned illustrations (these don’t have to be high-quality reproductions) to which you refer in your essay as figure 1, figure 2, and so on.
I will be considering the following as I grade:
how well you summarize the main argument, purpose, and scope of your essay near the start
how deeply you seem to understand your larger topic after researching it in some depth (if you get suggestions for how to expand or redirect your research on your proposal and annotated bibliography, please use these to write your essay)
the overall presentation of your essay (grammar, sentence structure, writing style, and proper notes/bibliographic format are all important; its also important that you are concise and stay relatively close to the suggested word limit)
