Discuss the role socialization played/plays in shaping your friend groups and biases.

-Watch Implicit Bias: Check Our Bias to Wreck Our Bias
(I will send the short video link via gmail)

-Complete an implicit bias audit using the questions below (you do not have to include the audit in your response) and summarize your findings in 350-500 words or a 2-3 minute video response. Explore your responses, looking for patterns of particular social identities/categories that you feel more or less comfortable around and discuss the role socialization played/plays in shaping your friend groups and biases. Then conclude by discussing how you might re-socialize yourself to address any areas of bias you identified.

-Think about who your closest friends and colleagues are-those people that you feel most comfortable around. Which social identities/categories (e.g. race, ethnicity, age, gender, religion, nationality, ability, socio-economic status) are present? Which social identities/categories are not present?

-Now think about who you feel least comfortable around. Those who you feel uncomfortable around can often give an indication of who you may hold negative implicit biases about.
