4. Write an individual final paper (5 pages, APA formatted) that explains the
following:
a. Some historical and cultural context around your groups chosen social
justice issue. Present the landscape and discuss why this issue is
important for society to engage with.
b. Your own personal take or connection to the social justice issue. Why did
you want to explore this issue further? How does your current
understanding of gender and sexuality contribute to your perspective on
the issue? Has participation in this class contributed? If so, how?
c. Discuss the theoretical perspective your group decided on. Spend time
discussing why the chosen theoretical perspective is useful in relation to
your groups issue and the action you chose to engage in.
i. You should be explicit in aligning the components of the theory with
relevant aspects of your social justice issue. You can also make
connections to other theories weve discussed in class, if you wish.
d. Then, focus on explaining the connection between your action and the
theoretical perspective(s) you chose to connect to your social justice
issue. You should be able to clearly show why the action your group chose
makes sense based on the tenets of the theoretical perspective(s) you
discuss. **For example, how your particular use of language in
designing a campaign or hashtag aligns with/responds to being
informed by symbolic interactionism.**
e. Please note: these are individual papers, so you should write them
independent of your group members. You will receive an individual grade
for this component of the final project.
f. Your paper should include at least ten (10) references, five of which
should be from the academic literature (5 academic journal
articles/sources from the library databases)
