Do you believe that the adversarial system, with two attorneys, pitted against each other and a judge monitoring the situation, constitutes the best way of maximizing truth and justice?

Street justice is a term used by police to justify the use of physical force against suspects. Street justice is seen as a warning to others that increases social control and may serve to protect the police from acts of violence. These beatings are described as legal in the sense that a narrow justification may exist for the use of force. In your initial post: Support or oppose the use of street justice. Using one of the ethical principles (virtue ethics, formalism, or utilitarianism), discuss whether such beatings are ethical?
