Now that you have made your first annotated bibliography, I want you to investigate those sources by means of rhetorical analysis with your research question in mind. For this part of the project you will be thinking about the reasoning behind the authors choices they made when writing or creating and who they were writing for. Essentially, I want you to write a paragraph under the cited source (like you did with the annotated bibliography) that answers the following: -What is the genre and subject of the source? (You do not have to provide me with a summary since you already did this for your initial annotated bibliography, but a sentence or so describing the source is necessary.) -Who is the speaker/writer? (Research this person and the topics he/she usually covers, etc. you may have already done some of this for your initial annotated bibliography, but this is still an important part of your rhetorical analysis) -Describe the authors tone towards the subject, is it informative? Argumentative? Sarcastic? Emotional? etc. What specific word choice tells you this? -Who is the intended audience? Which group(s) does the author address? How do you know this? (Level of vocabulary they use? Type of vocabulary they use? Their style of writing? The way they speak to the audience? etc.) -Do you find the source effective for your research question? Why or why not? Your analysis of each source must be at least 250 words. You must analyze not only what the source says, but how and why it says it. Reach out to me with any questions, and return to the “Steps-for-Genre-Analysis” PDF for help. The Following is the Annotated Bibliography: The assignment is a Rhetorical Analysis of the research materials below.
