Do you identify as temporarily able bodied?

Ableism Reflection Paper

In this 5 page paper minimum you will answer assigned questions to reflect on your course learnings on ableism (incorporating at least four readings or video

Questions to Address in Your Paper:

Do you identify as temporarily able bodied? As a person with a disability? How were you socialized around disability? What messages did you receive about people with disabilities? How does your temporarily able bodied status or your disability intersect with class, religion, race, etc. If this has not been your experience, how do you think that these things could intersect and how does your experience (or internalizations of experience) get in your way of liberation?
From the class, what did you learn about the definition of disability and what can be defined as a disability (ie. what types of disabilities are included in the ADA definition)? Do you agree with the ADA designation for disability (and reasonable accommodation)? Why or why not?
What would you say were your key learnings about disabilities, and ableism from this course section?
Is it possible for you to think of disability as not inherently negative? What makes many people think that it IS inherently negative?
There are times when people will tell ableist jokes. What gets in the way of us questioning language? Why do these things go unchallenged, how are you affected by this language, and have you ever interrupted this type of oppression? If so, how? If not, how might you go about challenging this method of oppression?
