Essay Review of David Miller’s Solved: How the world’s great cities are fixing the climate crisis

Students will write an essay review (1000-1500 words) of David Millers Solved: How the Worlds Great Cities are Fixing the Climate Crisis (Toronto: U of T Press, 2020):
1) The review must begin with an introductory paragraph, laying out your initial, overall assessment of the book. The point of a review is not just to offer your opinion of the book, but to persuade the reader whether they should purchase and read it themselves. Whatever you think about it, outline your reasons at the start this is the thesis of your argument.
2) The second paragraph (no more than 150 words) must provide a summary of the contents of the book and the argument that the author makes.
3) Then, pick TWO chapters (from Chapters 2-7) and compare/contrast Millers argument in these two chapters about how cities could lead the world toward global sustainability. Are his points equally persuasive? Are his examples clear and compelling? Is one chapter more effective?
4) Finally, in conclusion, are you convinced by Millers overall argument? Why or why not?
