Experimental Design Project

You task is to design an experiment without actually doing it.

For this project, each student will create a proposal designing a 2-3 group experiment; it can be either independent groups or within groups. Pick any topic in psychology that you are interested in. Students will be responsible for a brief literature review about the topic area of interest, stating hypotheses for the study, developing and detailing the manipulation of the independent variable, developing a dependent measure(s), and predicting in words what the anticipated results would be and how you would analyze the data. The discussion section should include a discussion of the possible confounds and the 4 types of validity and how your study addresses those validities. The research proposal will be written using appropriate guidelines as dictated by the APA.

Literature Review: .
Find 2-4 journal articles on your topic to base your study on. In your lit search you might want to combine your topic area of interest with the word experiment to find past experimental research (for example, customer satisfaction and experiment.

Your lit review should be about 3-5 pages long (like a mini-introduction), and develop into your constructs (definitions of your variables) and hypotheses.

Method Section:

In your method section you should detail how you would manipulate your independent variable and measure your dependent variable, and describe the procedures you would use, in detail. It should look like a method section in a journal paper. (3-5 pages)

Discussion Section: Address the 4 types of validity discussed in your text (statistical, internal, construct, and external) and any other factors that might be confounds in your study.
(3-5) pages
