Purpose: This assignment provides an opportunity for you to synthesise the unit’s understanding of the concepts of intertextuality, genre and remaking by preparing a film genre website devoted to FILM REMAKES. The task relates to learning outcomes 14. Instructions: At the beginning of semester each student with assume him/herself to a GROUP consisting of no fewer than FOUR and no more than SIX students. Across the semester the group will together follow and make note of the various approaches to the concept of genre/remaking Industrial, textual, critical, discursive, historical in order to develop and produce a website devoted to FILM REMAKES. The website should be modelled along the lines of the following GENRE example, but the exact format will be determined by each group: https://www.filmsite.org/genres.html Groups must use Google Sites to create their website (using your Monash google account). We expect to see a coherent design and layout but please remember that the grade will be largely based on the quality and detail of the analysis and appropriate written style. The EXACT LAYOUT of the site will be determined by each group but each website MUST demonstrate an understanding of the CONCEPT OF GENRE as outlined across the semester in this unit. That is, the website will draw on key terms and concepts covered in the seminar and readings to analyse a range of film and TV examples. At a minimum, the website must include: an ‘About’ or overview page (approx 500 words) and at least 5 x approx. 500 word pages covering FILM REMAKES. Individual assessment in group tasks: Each member of the group will receive the group mark for this assignment. Groups should use group contracts to help ensure all members of the group contribute equally. In the case of difficulties or conflict within the group, group members must contact their workshop lecturer prior to group work submission.
