In this section of the assessment you need to write a 2200-2400 word
individual report based upon a cross-cultural case study.
You need to analyse the case study (organisation of your choice) and assess
and explore the cross-cultural issues and problems the organisation is facing,
producing recommendations and an action plan to be put in place to improve
the current situation.
The structure of your work should include the following:
• Executive Summary
• Introduction
• Main body of discussion including critical analysis and evaluations
• Conclusions and Recommendations

Executive summary: Max one side A4 (not included in the word count).
This is a summary of what is in your full report:
• Paragraph one: What is the purpose of the work?
• Paragraph two: What are the main cross-cultural issues the
organisation is facing?
• Paragraph three: What conclusions are drawn and recommendations
made to improve the current situation.
Don’t worry that this is ‘giving the game away’ – that is exactly what an
executive summary should do i.e. SUMMARISE the report
Introduction
Explain the purpose of the report. What does it aim to do? (Refer to
coursework 2 assignment question).
Explain how you will go about the task. Remember you are trying to analyse
your chosen organisation and assess and explore the cross-cultural issues
and problems it is facing. AND provide recommendations on how to improve
the current situation.
Explain the order of your work – how will the flow of your argument/discussion
be presented. Here you will need to justify which cultural/contextual
frameworks/models etc. you are using to structure your work. For example
you may use the Gomez-Mejia et al, (2012) framework (or
Hofstede/Trompenaars dimensions) to analyse contextual and cultural challenges the organisation is facing.
Main report
Divide this part up into relevant sections using subheadings to help to
‘signpost’ the reader through the report. e.g.
1. Analysing cross cultural and contextual challenges within company x
using Gomez-Mejia, Balkin and Cardy’s (2012) model.
2. Assessing Trompenaars Value Orientations within company X
In this report you should use most of your word count on this section. Divide
this evenly between each section of the question to ensure you have enough
time to go into depth in each area.
Conclusions and Recommendations
• The conclusions should draw together the key points from the main
body of your report
• The recommendations should focus upon how the organisation can
improve the current situation. Remember to explain WHY you think
your ideas will work. Tell us what you have read that makes you think
this, by drawing from theory already mentioned within the main body.
• Use the action plan template provided and include this within your
appendix. You will need to remember to refer to the action plan within
your recommendations, explaining how it outlines the implementation
steps to improve the current situation within company X.
Note there should be no new information provided in this section – you are
simply drawing the strands of your discussion and argument together at this
point.

You should reference using the Harvard referencing style and include a full
reference list at the end of your work. It is not necessary to include a
bibliography.
Appendix
• Appendices should be kept to a minimum.
• Make sure you label and title each appendix and refer to it within your work.
