The paper is a minimum of five pages of actual essay written using Modern Language Association
format (MLA). The paper will have the following aspects to it:
1. A scholarly analysis paper on a work of literature of your selection which has gone through the
class approval process with Mr. Peterson.
2. An absolute minimum of five pages, these pages to be located exclusively within the abstract and
body paragraphs. The pages that are not included in this word count are your Works Cited and
Annotated bibliography. The maximum file length is set at eight pages. Additionally; the writer must
employ no less than two schools of literary criticism and no more than three in composing their
papers.
4. An Annotated Works Cited/Reference is required and will be a listing of no less than five
scholarly and authoritative sources, with all sources in your paper fully annotated. This will eliminate
any use of Wikipedia as a source or sources which you the author have not extensively researched as
to the reputation and validity of the sources author to speak on your selected topic. Of the annotated
sources only those used in your paper will need to be fully annotated
6. All iterative steps in this process— Rough Drafts and research with steps in the writing process—
must be submitted for full assessment credit the day after submission of the final essay.
7. Minimum page count will result in minimum grade as a return on investment (ROI). Pick your

8. The page count of the paper is exclusively from title to the last sentence will be the word count for
the paper. This number will be reported at the end of the paper prior to the works cited/reference
page.
9. The rubric for this paper will be handed out towards the start of semester two.
