Anyway, Ill try to give you a couple different choices so you dont throw a fit, or something. First of all, remember that theyre supposed to be around two lousy pages or so. Second, remember to have 5 paragraphs: an intro, three bodies (with two quotes from the book per) and a conclusion. Those with a so what? will have a chance of getting an A. Third, remember to use the ol formal tone- totally the opposite of the way Holden talks- and present tense, no Is or yous or any forms thereof. Here are your choices:
1. Holdens inability to grow up and his dislike/mistrust for adults is apparent throughout the novel. How is his love of children and childlike innocence shown? Consider his feelings toward the younger version of Jane and how he is unable to deal with her growing up. Also useful are his feelings toward his siblings: Allie, D.B. and Phoebe. Additionally, he has several random encounters with children and thoughts about them which reveal much about his character. The title of the book (and its significance) might be worth mentioning.
