You are going to write a Comparative Critical Response to a research question on a topic you
have studied in one of your subject units on the IFP(How are oil prices affected by the changes in supply and demand?). You must use a minimum of two sources,
one listening text and one reading text. Please consult your subject unit reading list first to
search for an appropriate source.
Preparation
1) Decide the topic area you would like to investigate from one of your IFP subject units
2) Determine your research question and agree it with your tutor
3) Synthesise key points from your sources to inform your response to your research
question
Your sources will come from the following:
– Sections from chapters of books that you have read this year
– Academically appropriate websites
– Articles from journals
– Lectures or appropriate academic TED talks
– Another source that your TR tutor has approved.
Why write a CCR?
The CCR is an opportunity for you to demonstrate the skills you have learned during Text
Response including reading, listening and writing (ILOs 1-4). At university you will be expected
to do research on different topic areas for a purpose, such as a research question. You will
need to be able to support your answer to a question using a range of sources.
