For the group assignment, all of you should read the following articles that address how the raced and diseased body can be politicized. The articles selected present different points of view. As a group, you should read all four articles and then get together to discuss these articles. Each person should take an article (if there are five people two people can double up) and then make a list of the pros and cons of the article. All of you should meet as a group, and discuss the points made by the article and what your takeaway from those articles was. Did they change your mind? Did you think about current debates and events differently? Do you think some of the articles or essays were just wrong? Why?
The summaries should include the following:
1. Group members:
Sarah, Melissa, and Rachel
2. A short synopsis of the four articles that were read.

A summary of the discussion that all of you had.
All in group feel all four articles we similar conveying the same information/message.
What points were brought up? Where did you stand in discussing these articles?
Sarah, Rachel and myself all felt although we do not agree with slavery; if your erase history you are more likely to repeat it.
In my opinion, when we chose to commemorate someone, we are choosing to do so on the positive things they added to mankind and not their shortcomings. We need to disregard faults that were common practices in the individuals time.
Also, I do not feel the monuments should be destroyed, nor should they be displayed in an area of prominence. I would prefer them relocated to museum or somewhere of less significance.
In allowing them to be vandalized, we are not teaching our younger generations the importance of right and wrong. We need to teach our youth how to use words and negotiation to invoke change.

A conclusion where you sum up what you thought, if or how you feel these readings were relevant, and whether or not your classmates influence you to change your mind.
All in our group came to the same conclusion.

This summary should be at least 500 words–two typed double-spaced pages. Less than 500 words will impact your grade.
