Field Research Report:
The purpose of the field research report is to:
Investigate and find answers to the research question or topic.
Design and execute a study to advance our knowledge about the questions, topic or effective interventions & practices.

The report must include the following sections:
Introduction and rationale for investigation: Presents a rationale for the investigation, identifying reasons as to why the study is important to consumers, students, families, educators, and/or the community, and how the results will impact people with disabilities. Presents a summary of a review of literature on the topic. Remember conducting a literature review is a necessary and important component of research. A literature review requires that you review the history of the topic, issue, or problem; examine what we know about the contributing influences, or variables to the topic. Your review discusses the rationale for the current study, addressing relevant history/background information, the rationale, the setting, and participants.
A. Literature review/Introduction.
The purpose of the literature review is to:
To locate information and answers to the research question or topic.
To evaluate the quality of research on the question or topic; to judge the credibility of the published information and findings.
To identify effective interventions and practices that improve the quality of life of your students, clients or organizations to whom you have a responsibility.
To guide you in designing a study to advance our knowledge about the questions, topic or effective interventions & practices, based on your critique of the research literature.
Using the completed literature review matrix from SPED 5800 as your organizational tool, summarize the literature and research findings relevant to the topic. Remember that the purpose of the literature review is to not only to identify scientific findings about the topic, but also to critically evaluate the soundness of the research. A critical analysis of the readings from professional sources (books, journals, and periodicals) using APA format (see attached summary) is expected. Although students are encouraged to use the electronic databases through Webster Universitys library system (PASSPORTS), internet-based popular literature is not acceptable (unless it has been peer-reviewed by an expert). That is, the information collected must be subjected to professional scrutiny and validation.
This section should be organized according to the major parameters, factors, themes, or issues current and relevant to the topic. The findings of at least twelve (12) peer-reviewed publications* are organized and integrated into a 3 4 page synopsis that presents the conclusions and recommendations of the research on the identified topic. The review should be written in a well-organized, integrated, comprehensive style, using ones own words. A literature review is not an annotated bibliography, a compilation of summaries of articles. Identify the strengths and weaknesses the research studies. Critical evaluation of the quality of the research methodology, conclusions, and application is expected. Gaps in the research base should be identified. The review culminates in a rationale or purpose for the following research proposal, and a clear specification of the research question(s).
