This paper is about Critiquing essay/articles of which I have uploaded one taken from my friend’s university library database. You are to strictly follow these points:
a. begin with a brief summary of the authors thesis/main critical point(s)
b. identify two or three salient points made in the article, with accompanying commentary on their significance and validity
c. dissect shortcomings in the authors argument or critical methodology, explaining why a particular line of critical inquiry is less than convincing and how the author might have strengthened her/his point
d. conclude with your overall assessment of its hermeneutical value and effectiveness; did you find it cogent and illuminating? Pedestrian? How might it have been strengthened?
This response should avoid simply summarizing the essays main points. On the contrary, aside from the opening overview paragraph (3-4 sentences), you should thoroughly engage the article through a substantively critical lens.
