Is there a common/prevailing view on this topic within American society?

There are two related tasks for the Mod 2 Main Assignment: compose an op-ed and create an infographic. Both the op-ed and infographic should address a topic that is urgent/important to people in your major, and both texts should address the same topic.

However, addressing the same topic doesn’t mean making the same argument. Sure, I could create an op-ed and produce an infographic about why the study of rhetoric should be a necessary component of any undergraduate degree, but I would likely use very different rhetorical strategies to communicate such a message, and I might have different purposes for composing an op-ed (analytic and critical thinking benefits) and creating an infographic (percentage of applicants who study rhetoric and get promotions).

So, for this proposal, please present some essential information about the op-ed and infographic that you’ll create for the Mod 2 Main Assignment.

1. Share which pressing/important topic you will address in both your op-ed and infographic. Though you may have done this during the Week 7 meeting, please briefly explain why this topic matters to people in your major.

Topic is Sustainable HRM Practices. Major is Human Resources.

2. Is there a common/prevailing view on this topic within American society? What is it? Will your own perspective support, modify, or challenge this common perspective?

3. What are three specific rhetorical strategies you intend to use in your op-ed? How will featuring these 3 strategies benefit your op-ed’s argument?

Strategies are:

a. Use emphasis strategies for text:
bold font
italics
second font for section headings

b. Examples (brief rather than extended)

c. Statistics / represent data in percentages

4. Finally, which application will you use to complete the infographic? What do you favor about this specific application?

Application used will be Canva.com
