The Second Treatise of Government, I find it pretty fascinating that there was a very strong passion or drive for social equality in a time like this. Comparing an individuals desire for social equality to a more modern or “Western” right of social equality is unimaginable to me. Locke’s desire and dislike towards the hierarchy is appropriate when one can compare the difference between freedom and oppression. Another thing that struck me as interesting was Locke’s distrust for the hierarchy and strong beliefs in its unfairness. This type of attitude can also be seen in the way American society in specific has had a portion of its population in distrust of the government throughout history. Incredible what a privilege it is to be autonomous!”
