The Rise of Abnormal Accidents: A Brief History of Crisis Crises, catastrophes, and calamities are an unfortunate but inevitable fact of life. They have been with us since the beginning of time. It can be argued that they will be with us until the end of human history itself. In short, they are an integral part of the human condition. They ARE the human condition. (In 1984, Yale sociologist Charles Perrow published a highly influential book with the intriguing title NORMAL ACCIDENTS)
A. Research a Timeline of Major Crisis between 1979 and 2017 and prepare a timeline of these crises. Include the crisis, date, state, and a brief description of these crises. I would like to see at least ONE per year if you can locate them in your research. Design your own timeline.
B. Describe the critical differences between Normal, Natural, and Abnormal crises or disasters.
C. Are there critical differences in how an organization needs to prepare for Normal, Natural, and Abnormal accidents? Why?
