Students will choose a plant species and prepare a research paper of 5 pages PLUS a bibliography and cover page (the cover page and bibliography DO NOT count in the 5 page limit!!!!). 5 pages means 5 COMPLETE pages. Not 4.5 pages, not 1.5 pages, or 4.75 pages. A minimum of 5 pages is needed!!!!! No more than 6 written pages though.
This paper should address the following items:
-Classification of the species (all the way to Domain!)
-Description of the plants key characteristics, lifecyle and distribution in Illinois and the United States (if invasive species explain where it originated)
-What kinds of ecosystems and habitats are this plant found in?
-How has this plant been used historically, or for economic purposes
-Summarize a research article that has been done on this species (it does not have to be conducted in Illinois). Look on Google Scholar or the csu library online database search.
*Proofread your paper for spelling, grammar and punctuation. Make sure you cite all
