Phil Barkers Tidal Model focuses on mental health using the metaphor of life being a voyage. If you have ever felt like you were drowning, you could probably relate to the common sense metaphors found in this theory. Many of the metaphors in this theory relate to water (Tidal, n. d. ). Barker focuses on the importance of allowing the patient to share their story because the patient is the expert when it comes to knowing what he or she has experienced (Tidal, n. d. ). Consider learning how to help your patients get into the lifeboat or put on the lifesaver when they are overwhelmed by a sea of despair.

Research and select at least two current scholarly sources to support your explanations and insights. The internet resources listed above, and websites of the nursing theorists themselves are appropriate sources for this assignment. Wikipedia is not permitted.
