Why this job?
– In the Somali community, there is very little understanding of the effects ASD on the brain and the importance of early intervention in augmenting persons quality of life.
– This job has helped me understand the gab information within minority communities especially in the Somalia community in MN and back home.
– How that inadvertently affects the type of services kids with ASD get and the quality of their life later on
– Their is cultural and language Barries that constrict parents from seeking the best treatment for their kids
– As most of them dont know this type of services exist and even those who are aware about this type of services dont have complete comprehension of what they do – once they in role some of them have told me that they experience discrimination or dont feel comfortable asking and communicating with the centers that their kids attend
– My work as a SRBT gave me enough clinical experience on how to implement ITP treatments and how to interact with kids with ASD
– More years in this field will prepare for my next career goal which attending St.Cloud State University to get my Doctorate in Behavior Analysis – which will allow me to run my own ABA clinic.
