The pandemic has created several challenges for many organizations and employees alike. Several management teams and CEOs had to face closures or continued (albeit reduced) operations while maintaining the health of their employees. Some were more successful with these adjustments than others. One might argue that the rights of the employees (stakeholders) are more important than the wealth maximization of the stock holders while others would disagree with this sentiment. This assignment requires you to find a news article that discusses a MNC’s decision to continue operations during the pandemic and discuss what side you believe a firm represents in society.
1) You have to give me your honest opinion about this issue and evaluate the cost/benefit for all parties involved. Your answer has to contain at least 200 words (any format will suffice). You have to mention the firm of interest and what source your information is coming from (i.e., WSJ, Financial Times etc.)
2) Your answer needs to include your understanding of agency costs (see Chapter 1) and your reply should be rooted in a sound financial framework. Your political affiliation (albeit important) should not be at the core of your reply; this is not the forum for those discussions. Any deviations from a financial discussion will not be counted
