For this assessment you are to imagine that NSW PCYC’s and Youth Action (the peak organisation representing young people and youth services in NSW) are holding a poster competition. They are concerned that punitive (punishment focused) responses to governing young people in NSW is having a net-widening effect that is seeing more and more young people come in contact with the criminal justice system. They would like to draw public, police and private security attention to the special needs of young people as citizen’s in progress.
Your task is to produce an A4 size poster accompanied by a 500 word explanation that addresses ONE of the following themes:
•Young people’s place in public space
•The criminalisation of youth culture
•Youth/Police relations or youth/Private security relations
•The youth of Western Sydney and territorial stigmatisation
Other key points about your final submission
•Use a minimum of two scholarly sources (e.g. Journal articles, book chapters and respected government websites).
•You must acknowledge the images and ideas of others, reference direct quotes properly using the Harvard referencing system and include a reference list at the end (not included in the word count).
•Viewpoints need to be substantiated using relevant literature, empirical evidence, and convincing argumentation.
•You can use some text on your poster but this should be very limited and used only when absolutely necessary.
•The 500 words only no more or less, without the refrencing and refrencing list, component of the task must be word-processed, doubled spaced and use 12pt font.
•You must also retain an electronic or hard copy of your submission as dictated by University Assessment Policy.
