PSY 175 PSG ProjectWith a partner (or, if you strongly prefer, on your own) you will create a public service guide to help both your classmates and the general public to better understand important topics of human sexuality. You must pick from one of the topics below (no more than 2 teams may sign up for the same topic; first-come first-serve, please email Dr. Rojo to let her know your preferred topic) and create a brochure, pamphlet, short video (e.g., a Breaking News report), a short lecture (with presentation slides), website (you can just submit a design, not actually create a live site), or something similar (be as creative as youd like ) in which you provide your classmates and general public key (i.e., important) information about this topic, how to avoid consequences related to this topic, important statistical information (e.g., likelihood of occurrence), and (where relevant) please also include information about the laws and policies related to this topic, as well as resources that can be found in the Los Angeles area related to your chosen topic. Please also avoid including too much material that I have already presented in lectures; your PSG project submission should include roughly 70% material that is unique to you (i.e., I have not already presented it in class). In summary, please be sure to include all of the following on your submission (I strongly encourage you to use the following as a checklist, after you believe your project is complete, and before submitting):Identify the topicIdentify your main audience (i.e., is this public service guide intended for parents? School teachers? A certain age range in the population (e.g., teenagers, young adults, etc.)? LGBTW community? Law- and policymakers? The general public of Los Angeles?)Describe the issue/concern/importance of understanding this topicInclude 3 to 5 relevant statistics about this topic (e.g., prevalence of the issue)Include 5 key terms from our chapter <-synthesize the definition into your explanation of why this topic is important and/or how to be better informed and/or how to help others to be better educated on this topic (i.e., please dont just copy and paste the definition)oIf you are submitting something in writing, please bold or highlight these 5 terms. oIf submitting a video with no text, please submit an additional document in which you list these 5 termsInclude one major resource from the Los Angeles area, where viewers can seek aid and/or find additional informationClearly and accurately responds to question(s) from classmates (during class presentation see info below about PSG Project Response)At least 70% of material in PSG project submission in does NOT overlap with content that Dr. Rojo has already presented in classIf your submission has ANY kind of written format (e.g., presentation slides in a video, a pamphlet, etc.) you MUST CITE YOUR RESOURCES in APA format! Use the in-text citations in APA format resource guide on CanvasoReferences list not requiredYour PSG Project submission will be graded using the following criteria:Clearly and succinctly meets all of the criteria above (5 pts)It is clear what kind of medium this is (i..e, a short lecture and you are pretending to be an instructor; a breaking news report and you are pretending to be a news anchor, a pamphlet, a newspaper, etc.) (1pt)Technical writing (or, if video, oral presentation) skills (grammar, syntax, punctuation, and clarity of writing/speech) and correct APA format of in-text citations(2pts) Visual appearance (lines are crisp, everything is organized well/not cluttered, a good balance between text if any is used--and visual aids) OR, if short video/audio recording, speech is well-paced (i.e., not rushed), not overly scripted, presenter is not overly reliant on notecards or script, and not monotone (3pts)Clear understanding of course content (3pts)oClearly and accurately addresses classmates questions (1pt)TOTAL: 15 ptsNOTE: If working with a partner, you will both receive the same grade. Please be sure that all project work is distributed fairly. SEE ME ASAP if group dynamic issues arisePSG Project ResponsePSG Project presentations will be displayed on our last class day. Independently (i.e., not with a partner), please respond to at least TWO of your classmates PSG projects, by typing in responses in the threaded discussion below each presentation (i.e., all presentations and responses will be made online). For each presentation that you react to, please Ask a relevant questionIdentify 1 thing that really surprised youIdentify your favorite part of this persons(s) presentation/projectYour PSG Project response will be graded using the following criteria:Clearly and succinctly meets all of the criteria above (2 pts)Technical writing skills (grammar, syntax, punctuation, and clarity of writing/speech) (1pt)Depth of response, as it is related to the topic of their presentation (i.e., not just a surface or clich response; e.g., I liked the shirt you were wearing in the video) and clear evidence that you viewed/read their presentation in completion (2pts)TOTAL: 5 ptsNOTE: PSG Project responses will be graded individually; you must EACH (independently) respond to your classmates projects.
